the Steepped Reckoner is a fiddly prototype calculator which is the first calculator which can do all four arithmetic calculations, but it was filled with many problems and while there were only two prototypes, their is only 1 left, and a replica, addition and subtraction were easily done through a turn of the crank while multiplication and the complex division required a multiple series of ‘steps” to be completed. it was started in 1672 and was completed in 1694.
